Purpose/Function:

• To develop, implement and monitor a legislative strategy/plan to successfully navigate the Alliance’s priorities through the 2011 North Dakota Legislature.
  

Potential Tasks and Activities:

• To identify key legislators (committee chairs, potential champions and sponsors) that represent both political parties as well as urban and rural populations and the geographic regions of the state.
  
• To secure the support of and work with the Governor’s office.
  
• To utilize North Dakota’s housing story, developed by HAND, to encourage buy-in from the administration and the legislature.
  
• To develop a plan that includes strategies and a realistic timeline.

Objectives and Timelines:

• To develop a legislative timeline.
  
• To identify a list of key legislators and government (state and local) officials.
  
• To secure a (positive) response from the governor concerning his support of the Alliance’s work.
  
• To identify any fiscal or budgetary needs the work group may anticipate, identify potential sources of in-kind and financial support for their activities.
