Purpose/Function:

  • To broaden, diversify and strengthen the Alliance membership
  • To ensure proactive participation of the membership (current and potential)
  • To identify, clarify and communicate North Dakota’s housing “story”, in line with the Education and Marketing Work Group


Potential Tasks and Activities:

  • Identify and recruit potential alliance members
  • Initial list to be developed utilizing previous HAND meeting/ committee work
  • Outline membership benefits, advantages
  • Outline membership responsibilities, commitment
  • Illustrate and revise (on an on-going, timely, as-appropriate basis) North Dakota’s housing “story”, in line with the Education and Marketing Work Group
  • Documents for use with various groups and organizations: letters of agreement and support, a resolution or position statement, success stories, etc
  • Pinpoint and connect individuals, businesses, organizations, agencies and/or groups who:
  • Advise and assist decision-makers to change policies and practices that underpin the challenges related to achieving access to decent, safe, affordable, accessible place to live
  • Act as advocates to raise awareness of the challenges related to achieving access to decent, safe, affordable, accessible place to live
  • Identify, endorse and uphold best practice resources and networking across the Alliance membership and its represented-communities


Objectives and Timelines:

  • Identify and recruit potential alliance members
  • Initial list to be developed utilizing previous HAND meeting/ committee work
  • Develop and conduct a membership survey to ascertain member needs (current and potential)
  • To identify the research needs of the working group, in line with the Data and Research Work Group
  • To identify any fiscal or budgetary needs the work group may anticipate
  • Assist with identifying potential sources of in-kind and financial support
  • This process will be on going

Budget and Potential Tasks:

  • By summer 2010, and/or in line with other Groups, as appropriate
